Mary (Ippolito) Suglia of Old Forge, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania United States was born on November 1, 1905. She married Andrew P Suglia on May 18, 1944, and they were married until Andrew's death on September 28, 1970. They had a child Anthony Robert Suglia. She also married Michael Cherundolo, and they were married until Michael's death. They had children Anne (Cherundolo) Fumanti and Michael J Cherundolo. Mary Suglia died at age 87 years old on March 2, 1993 in Old Forge.

In 1905, in the year that Mary (Ippolito) Suglia was born, the first movie theater opened in the United States in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was the first theater to show nothing but movies - silent films. Two men, John P. Harris and his brother-in-law Harry Davis, opened the Nickelodeon on Smithfield Street - charging 5 cents for admission. The first day, 450 people watched movies at the new theater - on the second day, more than 1500 people stood in line to get in.

In 1913, Mary was merely 8 years old when the 17th Amendment, establishing the direct election of U.S. Senators, was adopted. Previously, Senators were elected by state legislatures. As early as 1826, a call to elect senators through popular vote was championed and previous to the 17th amendment, two states had already changed their process. Governors are still able to appoint senators to vacant seats until an election can be held.
