Mary (Kinsella) Slater was born in October 1876 in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York United States to Luke Kinsella and Mary Kenna Kinsella McCabe, and had siblings James L Kinsella, Margaret Mary Kinsella Samwebber, Alice A Kinsella, Dennis J Kinsella, Matthew J Kinsella, Katherine Kinsella, Katie Kinsella, Sarah Kinsella, and Julia Kinsella. She married Daniel Slater, and died at age 29 years old on December 16, 1905 in Auburn, Cayuga County. Mary Slater was buried on December 19, 1905 at St. Joseph's Cemetery Lake Ave, in Auburn.

In 1881, Mary was only 5 years old when on October 26th, the "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" happened in Tombstone, Arizona. The gunfight lasted only 30 seconds - the Earps and Doc Holliday on one side and the "Cowboys" on the other side. The McLaury brothers and Billy Clanton of the Cowboys were killed. Two of the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday were wounded.
