She married John Charles Dyson Jr. in 1890, and had children Mary Elizabeth Dyson, John Burns Dyson, Martha Jane Dyson, and William Robert Dyson. Mary Dyson died at age 79 years old in 1945 in Cheltenham.

In 1888, by the time she was 22 years old, on January 12th, the 'Schoolhouse Blizzard' blanketed Dakota Territory. Montana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas were hit, leaving 235 dead. Many of those who perished were children on their way home from school. The day was relatively warm when it began and the blizzard hit unexpectedly, catching most by surprise.
