First used for aerial reconnaissance alone, planes were then used in aerial combat to shoot down recon planes. In World War I, planes and zeppelins evolved for use in bombing.

In 1920, at the age of only 9 years old, Mary was alive when the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote, passed both Houses of Congress and was sent to the States to ratify.
