Mary Theresa (Monteith) Hopwood was born in 1875 to John William Monteith and Mary Anne (O'Brien) Monteith, and had siblings Thomas William Monteith, Agnes Ellen (Monteith) Mass, and Margaret Monteith. She married George Willie Hopwood, and had children Josie Hopwood and Jack Hopwood. Mary Hopwood died at age 39 years old on October 5, 1915 in Newport, Hobsons Bay City County, VIC Australia, and was buried at Williamstown Cemetery in Williamstown.
