Hi Dianna, Matilda was my great grandmother. This site has erroneous information, you would do better on Geni or ancestors. I have looked at the parents listed and there is no way they were her parents. I believe she was of the dja dja wurrung people, but have not located our ancestors yet. There is however another Parker of the dja dja wurrung, if you care to look at their web site and look at the tribes.
I have cross referenced Matilda with orbituaries and newspaper clippings. She died two years after the nuns took my father and his brother away. The man who she took up with after being deserted by the hideous cottingham fellow rescued them but it took him 7 years. Her orbituary says she was loved but they could not save her. She donated 5 sons to the war effort, so l can only imagine the betrayal she must have felt when the whites took her grandsons when they were babies.
Hi Catherine who was your father. Yes I think our grandmother was a strong and brave woman I would love to put her story together. I have been to st Arnaud and Margaret Parker is buried there in an unmarked grave also 2 of her sons couldn't find Hickman Parker but he is there too but no they are not matildas parents it's sad our grandparents didn't share this story hope to here from you Di
