Introduction

The Mount Alexander Mail. Victoria. 20th January 1892. Mr. Matthew McDonald, a very old and well-known resident of the district, died yesterday after a lengthy illness. For many years deceased was an officer in the Lands and Survey Department, and as a surveyor was very efficient in the performance of his duties. He was for a period an active member of the Campbells Creek Riding in the Mount Alexander Shire Council, and on one occasion unsuccessfully contested a election for the Parliamentary representative of the Castlemaine electorate. Death was due to dropsy, and deceased leaves a widow and small family. Surveyor Crown Lands office.

THE Friends of the late MR Matthew McDONALD, are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the place of interment, the Castlemaine Cemetery. The cortege will move from his late residence " Rosemount," Campbells Creek, To-Day at 4 o'clock p.m.
