He & his brother Micheal, sons of Conrad Bitzer, of the Baden-Wurtemburg Germany area, (Tailfingen) came to America in the mid 1700's, and worked for an uncle in PA (what's now York/Lancaster) til his fare was paid, then moved thru Hagarstown MD, to Berkeley Co., Va. Matthias was Americanized to "John", in some instances. Descendants moved into Highland Co., Ohio & Clermont Co., then to Russiaville Ind. to Crosstimbers Hickory Co MO, then to OT/OK ca 1900. The depression sent some of the descendants westward, to Ca. He was my Great-Grandfather Andrew Jackson Pittser's Great-Grandfather.
