Maud Julia Janetzki of Traralgon, Latrobe City County, VIC Australia was born in 1894 in Traralgon to Catherine Agnes (Wickes) Janetzki and Johan Gustave Reinhold Janetzki. She had siblings Herbert Harlow Janetzki, Ruby Ellen Janetzki, Leslie Bernard Janetzki, Harold Ernest Janetzki, and Arthur Gustav Janetzki. She married George James Smith in 1915, and had children Phyllis Jane Smith and Arthur James Smith. Maud Janetzki died at age 82 years old in 1976.

VJ (Victory in Japan) Day was celebrated in the United States on August 14th and 15th. World War II was over.
