A Man of God by Phyllus Sauls Flowers
Maurice was a Man if God, but he was my childhood friend, next door neighbor and like a brother.

He use to dare me to keep up with the boys. Usually it was me, Maurice (Squirrel), and Bruce Dorsey. We climbed trees; jumped off houses; jumped from house rooftops to other house rooftops. As a results, I had to undergo knee surgery at 18 to repair a torn cartilage. They wouldn’t let me play football, although I was always around. I didn’t play with girls.
