Maxey was adopted, his birth last name was Marshall and his name was changed to Madrin. He was in an orphanage in Ohio in the 1920 under the name of Madrin . He was in the orphanage with his sister Margaret who last name was also changed to Madrin. Maxey was born in Virginia but was moved to NC before being placed in an Orphanage. His last name was changed prior to be placed in the orphanage during the depression.
