He had siblings James Finlayson Jones, Allen Gordon Jones, David Henry William Jones, Cecelia Alma Irene (Jones) Roberts, Isabella Jones, Thomas George Jones, and Bertha Louisa Jones. Maynard Jones died at age 49 years old on October 31, 1939 in Marnoo, and was buried at Rupanyup Cemetery, in Rupanyup, Yarriambiack Shire County.

    The Horsham Times. Vic. 3rd November 1939. JONES. - The death occurred suddenly at his home at Marnoo of Mr. Maynard Gibson Jones, aged 50 years. He was a son of Mr. Thomas Jones, of Campbell street, Stawell, and the late Mrs. Jones, and was born at Lallat Plains. He successfully carried on farming and grazing activities. His brother ( Mr. David Henry Jones ) died suddenly at Marnoo about three months ago. The late Mr. Jones was a member of the board of management of the Marnoo Presbyterian Church, a past president of the hall Committee, and one time a leading player of the football and cricket clubs. With his brothers he took up land near Marnoo in 1908, and had resided there ever since. He was married to Miss Rosa May Hines who survives him. There is a family of one son and one daughter. The funeral took place at the Rapunyip Cemetery.

Aged 50 years. JONES. - On October 31, ( suddenly ), at his residence, Strathcona, Marnoo, Maynard Gibson, beloved son of Thomas and Louisa Jones, of Stawell, beloved brother of George ( Berriwillock ), James ( dec.), Isabella ( dec.), Allan ( Marnoo ), David Henry ( dec.), Bertha ( Mrs. George Campbell, Stawell ), and Alma ( Mrs. J. Roberts, Melbourne ). Aged 50 years. - Peace perfect peace.
