    Melvin Greenaway was born to George Greenaway (1863 - 1933) and Willemina Mae Chilcot (1873 - 1936). His father was born in England. He had siblings Isaac Edward, Pearl B., Edith May, Alonzo, Raymond W., Howard Leroy, Henry Mitchell, Lemoyne William, and George S. Greenaway. Melvin married Martha Anna Hockenberg (1924 - 1986) and they had child George R. Greenaway (1944 - 2010). There is a record of Melvin having been incarcerated on May 19, 1937 in Western State Penitentiary. The charges were "breaking and entering and larceny". He was sentenced to a minimum of 1 year six months and a maximum of 3 years. It was his third conviction.
