Great-grandma Potvin died when I was 7 months old days after getting an influenza vaccination she did not want to get. Neither her daughter nor I will get flu vaccinations. Grandma Potvin is responsible for my name, I was supposed to me named Jessica, but she saw me and said that I looked like a princess. So I was named Victoria Anne instead. Grandma Potvin was an abandoned wife. She grew her own food for herself and her two young children during the Depression. She was also and excellent seamstress. How I would give two years of my life to spend a month with her... oh what she cold tell me about gardening, sewing, and being a determined woman!
