    Mercia V. Tillman, 94, of Seminole, FL., passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Freedom Square Nursing Center in Seminole. She was born in Chatham, England and relocated to Florida in 1974 coming from Manassas VA. While living in England, Mercia was known as a singer and entertainer. During WWII she sang and danced for the British and American troops. She was one of the first nine woman to cross the English Channel after D Day and received a ribbon in honor of the event. While living in the Seminole area, she continued to entertain at local gatherings. In 1996 she was crowned Miss Senior Florida and went on to represent Florida at the national pageant in Biloxi, MS where she was one of ten semi-finalists. She is survived by her loving husband, William M. Tillman of Seminole, FL, her sons, Malcolm K. Stewart and his wife Nancy of Indianapolis, IN, and William C. McCauley and his wife Stacia of Clearwater, FL; a daughter, Deborah L. Moore and her husband Danny of Old Town, FL; five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, Cecil and her sisters, Louise and Ella. Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the funeral home.
