    A minister of the Gospel for 55 years, she pastored at Beam of Life Tabernacle in Plaquemine since 1962. Her ministry reached worldwide with mission outreaches as well as evangelistic ministry throughout the United States, including a radio and television ministry. A resident of Plaquemine, she was born March 5, 1925, in Loranger and passed away peacefully in the presence of family and friends at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center on Monday evening, March 3, 2008. She was 82. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at Beam of Life Tabernacle on Friday from 11 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by her son, the Rev. Ray Manguno Jr. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. She is survived by two sons, Ray Manguno Jr. and wife Gail and Frank Manguno and wife Jeana; three fostered daughters ,Barbara Kirkland, Ruth Mendoza & Millie Toups. grandchildren, Michelle Manguno, Bridgette Harrington and husband Richard, Frank Manguno Jr. and Gioire Manguno; Larry Walker Jr.& Patty Waker & great-grandchildren, Cody Allen, Lila Rae and Isabella Harrington; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Chavers; husband, Raymond Manguno Sr.; sisters, Gladys Tucker, Irene Rauch, Eunice Chavers, Evelyn Melinie and Patricia Naquin; and brothers, Charlie, Arthur, John Elvin and Wayne Chavers. She gave her life not only to serving as a local church pastor, but in raising up and training men and women for the ministry. For many years she hosted an annual camp meeting at the Beam of Life Tabernacle, with ministers coming from throughout the United States and around the world. The camp meetings will continue, being led by her son, Frank Manguno, who will continue leading the church in its ministries and serve as pastor. Her favorite hobby was fishing. - See more at:
