Michael A Burdi, born on November 29, 1922, was the son of Italian immigrants Saverio Burdi (born Feb 12, 1882) and Eufenia Salerno (born 1894), and grew up with his siblings William and Joseph Burdi in Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA. Enlisting on August 28, 1942, at Fort Jay on Governors Island, New York, Michael was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers. He served in the United States Army during World War II for three years, three months, and nineteen days, with his service start date on September 11, 1942, and service end date on December 30, 1945. After his military service, Michael settled in Belleville, New Jersey, USA, where he lived with his wife Mary S Burdi (1927-2007), and they had one son together.
