    Michael Angelo Marchitto was born on March 21, 1919 in Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey, USA to parents Giuseppe "Joseph" Marchitto (1891-1930) and Josephine Saltarelli (1886-1985). He had siblings Carmine C. Marchitto (1920-1984), Dominic Marchitto (1921-1994), Josephine Marchitto (1923-2020), and Evelyn Carol Marchitto (1925-1989). He registered for the draft on October 16, 1940, in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, at the age of 21. At the time of registration, Michael was living in Jersey City and working for Mr. Geo. Russo. Michael then enlisted in the military on May 6, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey. He joined as a Private in the Selectees (Enlisted Men) of the US Army and was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA. In October of 1954, he married Madeline Lanni (1922–2014) in Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey, USA. They had two children together including a son, Thomas Michael Marchitto (1958-1996) and a daughter Josephine Marchitto .

Michael A. Marchitto Obituary
Michael A. Marchitto, 95, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Jersey City, he lived there until he moved to Whiting in 1993.

Michael was a mechanic for the Kearny Post Office, Kearny, NJ for 30 years, re tiring in 1990. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.

Michael was predeceased by his wife of 60 years. Madeline in May 2014 and his son, Thomas in 1996. He is survived by his daughter, Josephine Marchitto of Whit-ing; his sister, Josephine Tempio of Whiting and one grandson, Michael.

Visitation will be Sunday. Aug. 17th from 2 to 7 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Mon day, Aug. 18th at 9 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Whiting. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ.
