Charlotte had aspirations of becoming a nun. In the late 1930's and early 1940's Charlotte, then named Sister Mary Francesco, she was in he process of becoming a nun until the day she became ill. it was thought that if you became ill you were not to become a nun. So, before taking her final vows she stepped down from her calling in the Catholic church. Shortly thereafter she would meet her friend, her husband and painting partner Michael Arrigo.
