Michael was born in Rende, Cosenza, Italy. He came to the United States as a teenager, in hopes of finding a better life. He came in through Ellis Island and settled with relatives in Chicago, Illinois. After marrying, he moved to Lake County, Michigan where he lived the rest of his life, raising a family with three children.

Michael was born Catholic, however after marrying, and studying the Bible, realized the Catholic church was part of false religion as many of it’s teachings, doctrines and beliefs were not based on the Holy Bible, but rather were teachings of men and of pagan origin. Michael resigned from the Catholic religion and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Christian Witnesses. He remained firmly in this faith along with his wife and children until his death.
