I am trying to find out if this Michael McNeil, who died when the SS Belford was sunk on 1st December 1941, is the person referred to in Molly Holden's poem "Seaman, 1941". If so, is the poem's suggestion that his body was washed ashore on Barra where he lived correct? It seems an extraordinary coincidence. I would much appreciate any further information.
