    Miklas Anthony Kassay was born on May 2, 1921, in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Miklos and Julia Kassay. He was the second oldest with older sister Julia and younger siblings Elmer and John Kassay. They grew up living in Colebrook, Ashtabula, Ohio. He registered for the draft on February 14, 1942, at the age of 20, in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio. At the time, he was working for Bishop & Babcock Mfg Co and residing in Cleveland, Ohio. On June 10, 1942, Miklas enlisted in the U.S. Army in Cleveland, Ohio. He enlisted as a Private in the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component, which meant that he was selected for service but was not a volunteer. He was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA, which was a group of enlisted men who were awaiting assignment to a specific branch of the military. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Miklas A Kassay Obituary
Miklas A Kassay, 86, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at The Golden Living Center of Asheville.

Mr. Kassay was born May 5 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio and was a resident of Eastlake, Ohio for most of his life be fore moving to Asheville in July 2003. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was pre ceded in death by his wife Martha Kassay.

Surviving are daughters, Darlene Phillips and her hus band, Robert, of Asheville and Martha Pixler and her husband, Michael, of Charlotte; grandsons, Robert Phillips and his wife, Tam my, of Savannah, Ga., and Brian Phillips of Minneapolis, Minn; and great-grand children, Emily and Sierra Phillips.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Eugene Catholic Church with the Rev. John Schneider officiating. In lieu of flowers, memori. al contributions may be made to CarePartners Hos pice Foundation, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813, or St. Eugene Catholic Church, 72 Culvern St., Asheville, N.C. 28804
