Johnny B was half-brother to my dad, Charles S Raybon. He was born: Rueben Often Osborne. I don't know why the change. He was also my favorite uncle. My dad died when I was three years old. My sister, Melody Lynn and my brother, Charles Sylvester, were shared out to family at that time. I got to live with grandma and grandpa Osborne for a time while my mother left to recover.Johnny B was a kid too, but about twelve. He was called Reuben by my grandmother. Her name was Mildred Ray on originally. She and my dad's dad,Sylvester(Vet) Ray on, were divorced at some point, and she married John Osborne. Grandpa was an alcoholic, and not very nice. I called Johnny B "uncle kangaroo" because he would give my brother, sister and I rides on his back around the yard all the time. He was always watching out for us. We had to learn to avoid grandpa. He did too. He was the first person to treat me like I mattered in this world. Our early lives were rough, but not when uncle 'too was there. He has always been my hero.
