CATCHING Mildred Louise Catching, beloved daughter of God, passed away August 5, 2010. Born January 31, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan, Mildred (Milly) proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. A loving mother, inveterate reader, and true renaissance woman, she is survived by her children Patricia Pillars, Michael Catching, Barbara Rodgers, and Susan Worthy. Along with five great-grandchildren, Milly also leaves her nine grandchildren to laugh and love her memory: Alissa Wood, Laura Beebe, Derek Worthy, Julie Rodgers, Rebecca Rodgers, Susie Pillars, Christopher Catching, Emily Worthy, and Abby Worthy. Milly enjoyed a full life, retiring from Burroughs Wellcome Pharmaceuticals in 1988, the same year she graduated with her bachelor's degree in Sociology from Meredith College. She moved to Jacksonville in 1995, joining Advent Lutheran Church in Orange Park. She was an active member of the choir, and served as church librarian and as a Stephens Minister. For a number of years, she also volunteered at the Salvation Army and was a member of their Disaster Team. The Funeral will be held at Advent Lutheran Church on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Jacksonville National Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Milly's name to Advent Lutheran Church in Orange Park, Florida.
