    Millard E "Bill" Powers was born on November 7, 1923 in Lincoln Ctr, Penobscot, Maine to parents Mark W Powers (1896-1956) and Irene O. Haynes (1896-1923). He had a sister Leone Mae Powers (1921-2001) and half siblings Ernest, Mark, and Eugene Powers. He enlisted on August 25, 1942 in Bangor Maine and served a total of 22 years, most of them with the Navy, traveling the world. Later he retired from Counselor Co. in Rockford. On July 9, 1952 he married Claire Zelenka (born 1932) in Cook, Illinois, United States. They had children together including Mark (1958-2018), Michael (1960-2011), and Robert Powers (1965-2019). He was a dedicated family man, and his greatest joys were his eight children, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. After his retirement, he rediscovered a talent for folk art by creating whimsical wood carvings.

Graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1942 and immediately enlisted in the armed forces, serving a total of 22 years, most of them with the Navy, traveling the world. Later he retired from Counselor Co. in Rockford. Married on July 12, 1952, in Chicago. He was a dedicated family man, and his greatest joys were his eight children, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. After his retirement, he rediscovered a talent for folk art by creating whimsical wood carvings. Predeceased by parents; sister, Leone; brother, Mark; and granddaughter, Amanda Iverson.
