The following obituary appeared in The Macon Telegraph on Tuesday, February 9, 1993 on page 22: Minnie Johnson Tukes FORT VALLEY - Minnie Johnson Tukes, 111, died Saturday in a local nursing home. Born in Schley County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Jane Johnson Chaney and was the widow of Dave Tukes Jr. She attended Tuskegee Industrial School and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Survivors: children, David Marks of Fort Valley, and John Tukes of Miami; 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-granchildren. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday in Friendship Baptist Church. Burial: church cemetery. The Rev. Henry Hill will officiate.
