Muriel Edna Mavis (Sertori) Heavyside of White Hills, Greater Bendigo City County, VIC Australia was born on March 25, 1909 in Bendigo to Arabella Elizabeth (Birchmore) Sertori and Francesco Sertori. She had siblings Myrtle Annie Jean Sertori, Claude Raymond Henry Sertori, Thelma Joyce Sertori, Frank Robert Gerald Sertori, and Gilbert John Sertori. Muriel Heavyside married William Henry Lawrence Heavyside in 1928, and died at age 93 years old on March 7, 2003 in Bendigo.

In 1909, in the year that Muriel Edna Mavis Sertori was born, the New York Times published the first movie review. It was a report on D.W. Griffith's movie "Pippa Passes" also called "The Song of Conscience", a silent film. The review said that this work was moving away from "lurid material that attracted the wrath of censors and concerned citizens and toward more respectable ends. The movie was the story of a young female factory worker, on her day off, wandering and singing - thus changing the hearts of those around her towards good.
