In 1927, in the year that Muriel T Braswell was born, aviator and media darling Charles Lindbergh, age 25, made the first successful solo TransAtlantic flight. "Lucky Lindy" took off from Long Island in New York and flew to Paris, covering 3,600 statute miles and flying for 33 1⁄2-hours. His plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" was a fabric-covered, single-seat, single-engine "Ryan NYP" high-wing monoplane designed by both Lindbergh and the manufacturer's chief engineer.

In 1957, by the time she was 30 years old, on September 24th, the "Little Rock Nine" (nine African-American students) entered Little Rock High School. Arkansas Gov. Orval Faubus had previously prevented the students from entering the school at the beginning of the term with the Arkansas National Guard - they blocked the door. President Eisenhower ordered federal troops - the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army - to guard the students and allow them entry.

Bathing Beauties Of The Early 20th Century
Would you be happy wearing these bathing suits at the beach? In the first few decades of the 20th century, bathing suits covered a lot of skin - as these bathing beauty shots show. I'm happy that fashion changes, but truthfully the older I get, the better these suits look to me - I couldn't wear today's suits in public!
