    He was a Corporal in the American Revolution. He enlisted in 1775 and was honorably discharged on 19 July 1782. He was initially in the 1st New Hampshire Regiment (1775), which was renamed the 5th Continental Regiment, and then it was renamed the 1st New Hampshire Regiment (1777). He was probably present at the Siege of Boston, the Battle of Chelsea Creek, the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Battle of Trenton, the Battle of Princeton, the Battle of Trois-Rivières, the Siege of Fort Ticonderoga, the Battle of Saratoga, the Battle of Monmouth, and Sullivan's Expedition. He was also with the regiment when it camped at Valley Forge.
