Homemaker - Loving Wife, Mother (of 9 children - 4 boys and 5 girls, one baby boy died in infancy), and Grandmother to 29, and Great-Grandma to many. Her home was immaculate. She was a very good cook and made the juiciest most flavorful Thanksgiving turkey and homemade stuffing, this fabulous meal was enjoyed by our whole family her, my Grandpa Hume Crook, all of her Children and their Spouses and Grandchildren. She liked real Scotch Pine Christmas trees with plenty of silver tinsel. She collected depression glass, milk glass, carnival glass. She also collected tea pots and refinished and restored vintage furniture. Her home was always warm and welcoming. Like all wonderful Grandmas she always had windmill cookies and chocolate milk when her Grandchildren visited. In the summertime, it was almost magical sitting on my Grandparent's front porch listening to the windchimes. She loved to go shopping in downtown Hammond back in the day. She was an experienced crafter and made amazing handicrafts of all kinds. She lived on State Street and on Claude Avenue in Hammond, Indiana most of her life. She also lived for many years in Missouri where she was from before moving to Northwest Indiana. She was loved and respect by her entire family and many friends everyone called her Granny, it was a moniker of great endearment.
