Nelson was married to Esther Loraine Thompson (1915-2008) and they had three children together including a son, Sherman Carl Flackus (1949-1997).

SHIPMAN- Tech.-Sergt. Nelson Flackus, who has been stationed in Iceland, has been the guest of his brothers, Harold and Lester, and Mrs. Delmar Flackus. He also visited his sister, Mrs. Louls Buhs, and family at East Alton.

His parents. Mr and Mrs. Carl Flackus, had as guests Sunday in his honor, Mr. and Mrs. Flackus and daughter, Carol June, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Flackus and daughter, Joyce, Mr. and Mis. Louls Buhs and daughters, Ramona and Audrey, Miss Hilda Flackus and Harry Ruyle of Dorchester and Lee Flackus.

Sergt. Flackus has left for Camp Wheeler. Ga.
