    Nicholas Medwid Jr, the firstborn son of Nicholas Medwid Sr and Anna Faberska, had a younger sister named Anna Medwid. At the age of 24, Nicholas Jr registered for the World War II draft on October 16, 1940, while working for Chicopee Mfg. Corp. in New Hampshire. Subsequently, he enlisted in the United States Army on February 25, 1942, at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Nicholas Jr began his military service as a Private, Selectees (enlisted Men) in the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA. He served in the Army for three years and eight months until his discharge on October 18, 1945. In June 3, 1944, a year before his discharge, Nicholas Jr married Mary Polidori in Manchester, New Hampshire.

He was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA, and began his military service as a Private, Selectees (enlisted Men). His military serial number was 31068859. He enlisted for the duration of the war or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law. Nicholas served in the Army for three years and eight months until his discharge on October 18, 1945.
