He immigrated to the United States in the 1930s's lived in San Francisco, and eventually moved to Fresno, California in 1947 where he would spend his life. Nishan married Lucy Mugrdechian (1909-2011) and together they had two sons, Charles and Haig. He worked as an upholsterer and was a member of the Armenian democratic Club, Armenian General Benevolent Union and the Union of Harput. Nishan Jamgotchian passed away on August 9, 1969 in Fresno after a short illness.

    Published August 11, 1969 in the Fresno Bee Newspaper (Fresno, California): Funeral services for Nishan Jamgotchian, 72, of 4024 E. IlliInois Ave. will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in St. Paul's Armenian Cathedral. Burial will be in Ararat Cemetery. Jamgotchian died Saturday in a local hospital following a short illness. A native of Harput; Armenia, he had lived in Fresno since 1947. He retired as an upholsterer in 1953. He was a member of the Armenian democratic Club, Armenian General Benevolent Union and the Union of Harput. Surviving are his widow, Lucy; two sons, Charles of San Jose and Haig of Los Angeles, and four grandchildren. The family requests any remembrances be sent to St. Paul's Apostolic Church or the Union of Harput. The Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ziegfeld was inspired by the Folies Bergère of Paris and the show was a step up from the then current vaudeville shows. The top entertainers of the time played in the Follies but the stars were the Ziegfeld girls - beautiful chorus girls in elaborate costumes. For almost a quarter of a century, the Ziegfeld follies were the toast of Broadway.
