He had siblings Joseph Zambataro, Agatha M Kovac, Rose Mary M Marciante, Vincent G Zambataro, Nancy (Zambataro) Cervelli, Geraldine (Zambataro ) Virzi, Angelina (Zambataro ) Simonelli, Tony Zambataro, and Dolores (Zambataro ) Tut Hill. He married Sadie Zambataro, and they were married until Sadie's death on November 7, 1997. Nunzio Zambataro died at age 88 years old on March 15, 2008.

In 1919, in the year that Nunzio L Zambataro was born, Indian lawyer Mahatma Gandhi initiated the Satyagraha campaigns, beginning the nonviolent resistance movement against British rule of India. Satyagraha means "holding onto truth" and the campaign for India independence, which was eventually obtained, called for "self-suffering" rather than inflicting suffering (i.e., violence) on others.
