    Otto Edward Otteson was born on October 14, 1919 in Crosby, Divide County, North Dakota to Otto Knute Otteson (1875–1937) and Clara Helma Melida Torgerson (1883–1931). While serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he won the Purple Heart and spent several months as prisoner of war. Otto was discharged from the Army on November 30, 1946, after serving for three years. Otto married Dolores E. Dippe on June 19, 1953 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. They had two sons, Paul E. and Olin K. He was a longtime participant in amateur theater at the Players Club. He directed many plays, and he served as the club's president and production director and on its board of governors. He also helped to create the Players School of Dramatic Art. Otto Edward Otteson passed away on February 17, 1984 in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania at the age of 64.

Otto's terms of enlistment were "For The Duration Of The War Or Other Emergency, Plus Six Months, Subject To The Discretion Of The President Or Otherwise According To Law." While serving in the U.S. Army, Otto was awarded the Purple Heart, which is given to members of the military who have been wounded or killed while serving. He also spent several months as a prisoner of war. Otto was discharged from the Army on November 30, 1946, after serving for three years.

    Otto E. Otteson, 64, an industrial engineer at Boeing Vertol Co. and a longtime participant in the Players Club of Swarthmore, died Friday at Graduate Hospital after a brief illness. He was a resident of Swarthmore. Mr. Otteson was born in Crosby, N.D., and attended college in North Dakota and Washington. While serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he won the Purple Heart and spent several months as prisoner of war. After the war, he went to work for the Boeing Corp. in Seattle, Wash. He transferred to Boeing Vertol in 1963. In Swarthmore, he continued his longtime participation in amateur theater at the Players Club. He directed many plays, and he served as the club's president and production director and on its board of governors. Last year, he helped to create the Players School of Dramatic Art. Survivors: wife, Dolores; two sons, Paul E. and Olin K.; a brother; two sisters, and a stepmother. Services: 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Unitarian-Universalist Church, 145 W. Rose Tree Rd., Media.
