Introduction

Nickname: Paul Immigrated from Naples, Italy leaving there 21 Dec 1904 and arriving in Boston on the vessel Canopie 5 Jan 1905. Worked at the Plant Shoe Co. in Jamaica Plains, MA in 1917. WWI Registration card said he was single on June 5, 1917. It also indicated his parents were in Italy. Not sure if his parents were visiting Italy because a 1930 census shows mother migrated to the states in 1904. He lived on Boyles Ct. in Roxbury, MA. Description: 5' 7.5", light complexed, brown eyes, weight: 180, grey hair----on April 27, 1942. Lived on Minot St. in Dorchester, MA. New York Passenger list, 1820-1957 shows he arrived in NY on September 17, 1950 (4pm) along with his wife. Left Naples, Italy on the Neptunia (first class) on September 4, 1950. They lived in Dorcester, MA--192 Minot St. Also traveled as tourist leaving from (SS Independence) Naples on September 24, 1955 and arriving in NY on October 3rd. 1930 Census says he immigrated to US in 1904. Wife Gilda (Candida G.) immigrated in 1914. Both able to write and speak English. Shows both naturalized in 1916. 1920 census also states naturalized in 1916. Census records indicate arrived in USA in 1906 for both he and his wife. Seems to be a difference of 2 years from the 1920 census to the 1930. Nephew of Paul's, Lou Greco, indicated that he worked in a chocolate factory in Boston. and that he use to eat a pound of macaroni every day. It is believed that they were married in 1917 sometime after June as his WWI registration card showed him "single" in June of that year. According to a census record she arrived in the US in 1914 from Italy and was married at the age of 25 to Panfilo who was 27. This made her two years younger giving a birthdate of approximately 1892. Therefore, at age 25 it would have placed the marriage in 1917. Naturalized on November 28, 1921. Certificate #1595922 per US Naturalization Records. Petition for Naturalization on 22 Jun 1921 in U.S. District Court, Roll 140 Boston. Witness#1 Stanley Rizzo, Witness#2 Joseph Picozzi. Lived in Roslindale at the time. Birth certificate received from city of Sulmona, Italy states he was born 21 Apr 1879 but his naturalization papers say 2 Apr 1890.
