Obituary

Patricia Koester, 79, of Tolono passed away at 12:36 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 24, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ivesdale. Monsignor Albert Hallin will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the church. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Ivesdale. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Pat was born on Oct. 10, 1928, in Philo, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Lannon Mitchell. She married William H. Koester on Oct. 27, 1945, in Champaign, and he died on March 24, 2000. Surviving children include Kathy Fritz of Houston, Texas, Mary Guffey of Somerset, Ky., Robert Koester of Cotopaxi, Colo., Connie Harrington of Tolono, Nancy Sansare of Tolono, Mark Koester of Altamont, Kurt Koester of Monte Vista, Colo., and Danny Koester of Tolono. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, two brothers and four grandchildren. Pat was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ivesdale, a past president of the church altar and rosary society, and the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Tolono. Pat loved to play bingo and was very involved with the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roux-Hinds Funeral Home, 348 N. Piatt St., Bement, has been entrusted with the family's loved one for Pat's services.
