Paul A. Jurcak was born to John Carol Jurcak (1900 - 1962) and Mary E. Gulas (1902 - 2001). He had siblings Barbara, John, Carol, Allen, Bernadette, Michael, and four more sisters.

A veteran of World War II, Paul served in the United States Marines, enlisting in 1944 and being discharged in 1946.

In 1926, in the year that Paul A Jurcak was born, on November 15th, NBC was founded. It was the U.S.'s first major broadcast network. Ownership of the network was split between RCA (a majority partner at 50%), its founding corporate parent General Electric (which owned 30%), and Westinghouse (which owned the remaining 20%).

In 1952, when he was 26 years old, on July 2, Dr. Jonas E. Salk tested the first dead-virus polio vaccine on 43 children. The worst epidemic of polio had broken out that year - in the U.S. there were 58,000 cases reported. Of these, 3,145 people had died and 21,269 were left with mild to disabling paralysis.

In 1966, when he was 40 years old, on July 1st, Medicare became available after President Johnson signed into law the Medicare Act in 1965. President Truman had received the first Medicare card since he had been the first to propose national healthcare law. insurance.
