Joseph Albert Jean "Paul" Durivage was born on May 21, 1920 in Franklin, VT to parents Joseph Durivage (1877-1952) and Marie "Louise" Lussier (1878-1950). He was part of a big family with siblings Antoinette, Jean "John", Joseph, Marie, Berhta, Gerald, Charled, Marie, Roland, Annette, Jocelyn, and Gabrielle Durivage. At the time of his registration for the WWII draft on July 1, 1941, he was 21 years old and living in St Burlington, Vermont. On December 30, 1941, just weeks after the United States entered World War II, Paul J Durivage enlisted in the Army of the United States in Rutland, Vermont. He was 21 years old and enlisted in the Air Corps and was given the rank of Private.
