    Military serial#: 39591905 Enlisted: June 29, 1944 in Ft Macarthur San Pedro California Military branch: No Branch Assignment Rank: Private, Selectees (enlisted Men) Terms of enlistment: Enlistment For The Duration Of The War Or Other Emergency, Plus Six Months, Subject To The Discretion Of The President Or Otherwise According To Law - Purple Heart posthumously in 1945.

  • Personal Life & Family

    Paul was considered the protector of his brother and sisters growing up. His brother David frequently stated that Paul was his hero. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army at Fort Macarther, San Pedro California on June 29th 1944 and shipped off Basic Training with Company D, 153 BN, 91st Regiment, Camp Hood Texas. Letters home from Boot Camp showed that Paul was in good spirits but was getting tired of all the marching. He remarked in a letter home to his parents that his unit marched 4 miles in 45 minutes" I made it...beleive it or not but didnt think that I would!" Paul was able to take leave in November 1944 to visit the family in California before deploying to France to fight in the war. A notice of change of address showed that Paul was temporarily located with E. Co. 13th BN, 4th Regiment located at Fort Meade Maryland. Paul was ultimately assigned to 1st Platoon, D Company, 112th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division known as the "Keystone Division". The Keystone Division was red in color and nicknamed the Bloody Bucket follwoing the fighting that occured in the Huertgen Forest during WWII.

    Paul died in combat fighting Nazi's in Colmar Haut-Rhin France in the final days of the battle of Colmar Pocket, WWII. He gave his life in the service of his Country...and will always be remembered with pride in the hearts of this family..and any American that loves freedom. Thank you Uncle Paul. We love you.
