Pauline (Brookner) Greifer was born on March 8, 1901 to Mendel Brookner and Regina Brookner, and had siblings Benjamin Brookner, Max Brookner, Paul Brookner, Mary Zoller, and Lena Negru. Pauline Greifer married Fred Greifer on December 27, 1927, and died at age 97 years old on May 3, 1998.

PAULINE GREIFER PAWTUCKET - Pauline Greifer, of the Oak Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pleasant Street, Pawtucket, the co-founder and co-owner, along with her late husband, of the former Pauline's Dress Shop in Providence and Garden City, Cranston, for 47 years, retiring in 1979, died May 3 at the center. She was the wife of the late Fred Greifer. Born in Austria, a daughter of the late Mendel and Regina (Auerbach) Brookner, she lived in Providence for many years before moving to Pawtucket five years ago. She had attended business school. She was a member of Temple Beth-El and its Sisterhood, and the Women's Association of Miriam Hospital, the Jewish Home for the Aged, and also a member of Hadassah. She leaves two daughters, Leah Abrams of Providence, and Yvette Kahn of Greenwich, Conn.; two sons, Dr. Burton Greifer of Barrington, and Richard Greifer of Miami; two sisters, Mary Zoller of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Lena Negru of Montreal; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Benjamin, Paul and Max Brookner. The funeral service was held May 5 in Mount Sinai Memorial Chapel, 825 Hope St., Providence.
