I never met Percy, he was killed during the second world war, I have his medals in a mahogany display case in my hallway and I am very proud of them, Percy had a Daughter Janet ( My Mother ) she would have been 2 or 3 at the time of his death, I have visited his grave at venray Netherlands which is a very nice well kept military cemetery, ( thank you to the Dutch nation ) I only recently met some remaining members of his family, his brother john and Vic, I believer there were 11 in total, I have some letters he wrote to his mom and dad and a few photos, I also have a letter from his mom to his brothers CO asking him to inform him of Percys Death,
from the information I have the Gennards are a very close family that spent many days out together enjoying day trips, picnics, fishing and walking the canal tow paths during their youth, I wish I had had the chance to have met Percy, but all I can say now is that My Grandad gave his life so I could live mine in safety and freedom, I know he would have been proud of me and my family.
