He had siblings Frank William (1906-1980), Susan (1908-1939), Lillian (1913-), Joseph Robert (1920-2007), Anthony Richard (1920-1999), Martha Elizabeth (1921-2008), Anna Marie (1924-2006), and Robert George Yannachione (1927-2009). He spent most of his life in Freedom, PA and was an architect. At the age of 28, Pete registered for military service on October 16, 1940, in Freedom, Beaver, Pennsylvania. About a year later on June 24, 1941, Pete enlisted in the Army at Camp Lee, Virginia. He joined the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component and held the rank of Private.

In 1925, he was merely 13 years old when in July, the Scopes Trial - often called the Scopes Monkey Trial - took place, prosecuting a substitute teacher for teaching evolution in school. Tennessee had enacted a law that said it was "unlawful to teach human evolution in any state-funded school". William Jennings Bryan headed the prosecution and Clarence Darrow headed the defense. The teacher was found guilty and fined $100. An appeal to the Supreme Court of Tennessee upheld the law but overturned the guilty verdict.
