    Peter J. Chames, 82, beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Kostas); loving father of Tena Chames Frazier, Annie Mylant, John (Elizabeth Bartz), and Patricia (Mark Surguine; loving Pappou of Christopher Mylant, Nicole Marie Chames, and Nikolas Frazier, passed away. He was past president of Order of Ahepa, Chapter 36, a member of Anchor Lodge 283 F&AM and Al Sirat Grotto, and an Army veteran of World War II. Funeral services Friday, April 6, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 2187 W. 14th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44113. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Annunciation Church. Interment at St. Theodosius Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Yurch Funeral Home, 5618 Broadview Rd., Parma, Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Trisagion service Thursday, 8 p.m. -Akron Beacon Journal (Akron, Ohio) April 5, 2001 page 84

In 1934, by the time he was 16 years old, on July 22nd, gangster John Dillinger was killed in Chicago. His gang had robbed banks and police stations, among other charges, and he was being hunted by J. Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI - although many in the public saw him as a "Robin Hood". A madam from a brothel in which he was hiding became an informer for the FBI and, after a shootout with FBI agents, Dillinger was shot and died.
