    Peter did extensive research on our family's origin. Our ancestors came from near Mecklenburg, Germany. His mother was a Randall (maiden name). Her great grandfather was the governor of Wisconsin during the American Civil War. He was also postmaster general to the United States appointed by Abraham Lincoln himself. He oversaw the training and staging of Wisconsin volunteer soldiers being sent to fight in the war. These staging grounds became known as Camp Randall. Today the University of Wisconsin Badgers football stadium is known as Camp Randall Stadium. His father Curtis was a state representative and an influential member of Wisconsin politics, following in the family tradition of civic service.

    Peter attended Wisconsin High School in Madison, WI. Graduating in 1960. He attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a degree in Russian History in 1969.

    Death date
    After beating prostate cancer in 2003 it came back in 2008 and spread to his bones. After a hard fight he succumbed to it in the winter of 2009. With his only child at his side he passed peacefully as a snowstorm raged outside..
