    Graduated from Kapaa High School, Kauai, Hawaii and immediately went to work for Matson Lines as cabin boy aboard the SS Lurline.

  • Professional Career

    At age 16, Peter went to work for Matson Lines aboard the SS Lurline as a cabinboy. He worked his way up to engineer, making rank sooner than most, and eventually making chief engineer. During war time, Peter served in the Merchant Marines. After the war, he returned to work for Matson. His career spanned forty eight years.

In 1909, in the year that Peter Ebinger Sr was born, the New York Times published the first movie review. It was a report on D.W. Griffith's movie "Pippa Passes" also called "The Song of Conscience", a silent film. The review said that this work was moving away from "lurid material that attracted the wrath of censors and concerned citizens and toward more respectable ends. The movie was the story of a young female factory worker, on her day off, wandering and singing - thus changing the hearts of those around her towards good.

The February revolution resulted in the abdication of Tsar Nicholas and a coalition of the Parliament and workers parties taking control of the government. The October revolution resulted in Lenin and the Bolsheviks taking complete control.
