In 1800, he was 71 years old when on August 30th, educated blacksmith Gabriel Prosser organized a slave revolt. He wanted to capture Richmond and kill all whites - excluding Methodists, Quakers, Frenchmen, and the poor - and become king of a new black nation. The revolt failed, he was captured and hung. Slave laws were tightened in Virginia.

In 1805, at the age of 76 years old, Peter was alive when on October 21st, Lord Nelson defeated the French and Spanish fleets in the Battle of Trafalgar in Spain. 33 British ships fought 41 ships from Spain and France. The Franco-Spanish fleet lost 22 ships while the British lost none. The battle ended plans to invade Great Britain.
