Philip Edwards Carne was born in 1858 to Jane Carne and Philip Carne, and had siblings Richard Edwards Carne and Mary Frances "Minnie" (Carne) Bee. He married Marienne Carne, and had children Henry Athelstan Carne, Mabel Stewart ( Carne, Spencer Carne, Flo Harding, and Clem Carne. Philip Carne died at age 73 years old on September 19, 1932 at Euroa in Victoria Australia.

    The Argus, Melbourne. 24 September 1932. CARNE. - On the 19th September, at Penzance, Euroa, Philip Edwards, beloved husband of the late Marienne Farrance, and beloved brother of Mrs. Bee, Wyalkatchem, ( W. A. ), and Richard E. Carne, J.P. ( Watchem ). Aged 74 years.
