    The following obituary was published in The Albuquerque Tribune on Tuesday, November 9, 1976 on page 18: Physicist, 38, dies Services will be Saturday for Philip B. Tollefsrud, 38, a nuclear physicist at Sandia Laboratories, who died Sunday at an Albuquerque hospital after an illness. In addition to his scientific interests, he backed conservation programs and he was a hunter. He was a member of the Albuquerque Wildlife Feration, the National Wildlife Federation and the New Mexico Wilderness Commission. He was a member of Sandia Archers, the Crest Bow Hunters, the American Nuclear Society and the American Physical Society. He served as one of the panel moderators for the recent Governor's Youth Conference on Nuclear Energy in Albuquerque. Surviving are his wife, Sonja Tollefsrud; two daughters, Nikki and Tanya Tollefsrud, Albuquerque; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Ensrud, Pekin,, ND; two sisters, Judy Rinebarger, Montgomery Ala., and Jean Ensrud, Minneapolis, MInn.; one brother, Rick Ensrud, Dallad, and his grandmother, Oline Tollefsrud, Pekin, ND. Memorial services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the French Mortuary Chapel.

In 1938, in the year that Philip Tollefsrud was born, on June 25th (a Saturday) the Fair Labor Standards Act was signed into law by President Roosevelt (along with 120 other bills). The Act banned oppressive child labor, set the minimum hourly wage at 25 cents, and established the maximum workweek at 44 hours. It faced a lot of opposition and in fighting for it, Roosevelt said "Do not let any calamity-howling executive with an income of $1,000 a day, ...tell you...that a wage of $11 a week is going to have a disastrous effect on all American industry."
