    Placido Cianchetta was born in Agnone, Insernia, Molise on July 5, 1848 to Filippo, son of Placido, ( a family profession - tailors) and Elisena di Lollo. He arrived in New York in 1882 at 33 years old. He was a cook on Mulberry Street. He met Domenica Pittella and married her in 1883 in New York. They had 6 children, 4 that survived into adulthood. Filippo, Antonio, Francesco and Angelo.
